Masthead Photo

If you like the photo at the top of this blog, I have made a full view copy available.  As you can see, there are now options under each photo should you wish to buy the photo (prints, cards, and downloads).  Additionally, free "share" and "e-card" options are included.  Please note that copyright markings are removed from photos when delivered.

Watch for the opening of my photography web site.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel - f/6.8 at 1/100 sec.  18 mm, ISO 100.  No processing (as shot).

The masthead photo was taken at Lake "Toho" (Tohopekaliga), Kissimmee, Florida.  A nice break from Winter photos here in the heartland.

Snow/Frost Covered Branches

I don't want you to get the wrong idea - that all I do is surreal HDR photos.  This photo, while using 3 bracketed exposures, is very true to the base exposure.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i - f/5.6 at 1/1600 sec, 3 exposures (-1.33, 0.0, 1.33 EV).  Circ Polarizer, 240.0 mm (x 1.6), ISO 200 .  Processed from RAW with Photomatix Light.

This photo was taken in my front yard.

First Post

For the first photo on my new photo blog, I selected the cover photo from the 2011 "Bicycle Trails" calendar.  This photo is of the West Nishnabotna River bridge on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail.

Photo taken on a Canon Digital Rebel T1i, 21mm (18-55mm zoom) at F/10.  Three exposures (+ 1.67, 0.0, -1.67 EV) were combined and processed by Photomatix Light.

Once I set up some of the software, I plan to offer prints of these photos directly from the blog.

The "Trace" is an abandoned railroad bed stretching from Council Bluffs, IA to the Missouri border.  The bike is my Trek 4300 mountain bike.  In addition to the D-SLR for photo shoot rides, I generally carry my Point & Shoot camera in my jersey pocket.
